Theater for Dialogue: Racism and Reforms
Tuesday, July 28, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm on Zoom
This evening’s performance will follow two town conversations on:
Tues. July 21st at 7pm “Elevating Suppressed Voices”
Mon. July 27th at 7pm VISIONS, Inc. Diversity/Equity/Inclusion Climate Assessment of Arlington Police Department.
This series is meant to 1) open up the dialogue to address challenges, past and present, the Town of Arlington has faced, 2) acknowledge plans for moving forward in the journey to dismantle the systemic racism that is embedded into all of the Town’s institutions, and 3) provide an opportunity for community voices and concerns to be heard and discussed.
A week after each Arlington MA Town Conversation event, you are invited to attend an online “story theatre dialogue” on July 28 and August 11, to reflect on the feelings and issues brought up for you from the town conversation. Each person who takes a risk to share what they’re feeling will be reflected – respectfully and creatively – by Arlington’s improvisational theater troupe, True Story Theater. Watch, listen, and share your personal response and experiences on the topic.
The purpose of these True Story events is to help all of us in town more deeply understand each other in an honest, human way, from the heart.
