Susan Lyman, "Harbinger"; Leslie Wilcox, "Rotten"

In this exhibition Lyman, long a scavenger of found wood which she coerces into provocative figurative sculpture, presents wood as a marker of time, demonstrated through its growth rings, weathering, brokenness, and far-reaching roots. Wood and trees reveal these distressing stories to us and even act as harbingers of a perilous future.

Leslie Wilcox’s solo exhibition ROTTEN contends with our cascading global climate catastrophe. Sickened by the compelling evidence of this human-induced collapse, Wilcox extracts weather-beaten driftwood detritus from the sea and petrifies it, then gilds and patinates it to illustrate resolute proof of our culpability.
