High Strung Strummers (Cathy Mason and Sarah Jane Nelson) present: Folklore of the Fiddler in Ballads, Stories, and Tunes, a mix of Anglo-American ballads, old-time tunes, and stories often as a Crankie narrative scroll.
There will be special emphasis on the life and music of an African American fiddler from Missouri named Bill Driver who was a favorite among local dancers and lived to be 104!
The High Strung Strummers is a high-energy duo, specializing in the old-time dance music of Appalachia and Anglo-American ballads. Sarah Jane Nelson is a multi-instrumentalist and storyteller.
