Dr. and Rev. Cook: The History of Paige Academy and a Culturally Responsive Education

For more than 50 years, Dr. Angela Cook and The Rev. Joseph Cook have ensured their innovative school in Roxbury provides stellar education to a diverse student body.

Dr. Angela Cook and The Rev. Joseph Cook founded Paige Academy as an independent elementary and nursery school in Roxbury in 1975. Paige Academy programs are steeped in a strong academic and project-based curriculum and grounded in the value system of Nguzo Saba: unity, self determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith. Come learn about the Cooks' story and philosophy on the importance of a culturally responsive education.
