Julia Shepley, "Carry", wood, 5.5'

Shepley presents a series of inventive open-framework wood sculptures and their shadows will form a procession across the walls. Volp’s exhibition features small groupings of juxtaposed geometric forms made from plaster, paper, pulp and clay.

Shepley series of inventive open-framework wood sculptures and their shadows will form a procession across the walls of the gallery. . Her sculpture and drawings are informed by different observational viewpoints and the compressed, warped, or elongated shapes derived from shadows and reflections. Each work appears to be in the process of movement and reassembly.
