Boston String Players is an ensemble of young professional and student musicians who collaborate with upcoming visual and performing artists, and perform innovative concert programs that intertwine established classical pieces with contemporary and novel compositions of non-classical genres, often featuring the first-time performance of a new composition. BSP offers an unique collaborative music-making experience for fresh Boston-area talents, and actively promotes spontaneous and direct interaction with the audience during concerts. BSP strives to make classical music more accessible to a broader audience by holding open rehearsals and delivering concerts that are sociable, fashionable, and fun.
Founded in 2007 by artistic director and conductor Motoki Tanaka, Boston String Players include recent alumni and current students of over a dozen music schools in the greater Boston area.
