Vinfen’s virtual 15th Annual Moving Images Film Festival is on Saturday, March 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST! Moving Images Film Festival uses the power of film to raise awareness, foster important dialogue, and fight against the prejudice and discrimination often faced by people with mental health conditions and disabilities.

FEATURED FILMS THIS YEAR INCLUDE:

WAKE UP: STORIES FROM THE FRONTLINES OF SUICIDE PREVENTION

Wake Up interweaves the stories of four very different communities affected by suicide – college students, veterans, the LGBT community, and gun owners. Rather than laboring on tragedy and despair, Wake Up focuses on the leaders on the frontlines of prevention and powerfully illustrates how positive change can be achieved when compassion is practiced over prejudice. This film is followed by a panel discussion featuring Moderator Marc DeNofrio, Vinfen’s Metro Boston Area Director of Clinical Services, stars from the film, and other content experts.

THE DEFINITION OF INSANITY

The Definition of Insanity depicts the story of Judge Steven Leifman’s tireless work decriminalizing treatment of people with serious mental health conditions and a tribute to the good that can be accomplished by one individual on a mission. This film is followed by a panel discussion featuring Moderator Michelle Larned, Vinfen’s Southeast Area Director of Clinical Services, subjects from the film, and other content experts.

AUTISM: THE SEQUEL

In 2006, HBO debuted the Emmy-winning film Autism: The Musical, which followed five children as they wrote and performed their own musical. Autism: The Sequel revisits the stars of this musical 12 years later as the original subjects, now in their early 20s, navigate what independence means to them as they manage both challenges and triumphs as adults living on the autism spectrum. This film is followed by a panel discussion featuring Moderator Joe Ricciardi, Vinfen’s Director of Clinical Services, some of the stars from the film, and other content experts. A special performance by panelist Adam Mandela Walden on cello will conclude this segment.
