The theme of the concert, Beethoven's 250th anniversary, will include his Variations on a Theme from Magic Flute and his third cello sonata, as well as Schubert’s Arpeggione sonata. Beethoven said that there was always either a story or an image behind all the pieces he composed. Duo Amie will intersperse their program with stories surrounding their creation, as well as ideas and images they inspire. A reception will follow!

Bonded by their shared backgrounds as world class trained musicians who also earned advanced degrees in other fields, Ellyses Kuan and Julie Reimann founded Duo Amie in 2015 in order to share their love of music and performance with others. They engage their audiences with themed programs that encompass the auditory and visual senses, and that capture the imagination through both musical expression, discussion, and visual thematic elements.

Elysses Kuan began playing piano in her native Hong Kong at age 3, has a master's degree in piano performance from the Eastman School of Music and runs EKS Music School in Quincy. Julie Reimann, also known as Dr. Julie Reimann, began cello studies at age 9, holds a bachelor's degree in music from the Curtis Institute and also holds a medical degree and doctorate in biophysics from Stanford University. About Music At Sanctuary Hall: MSH is an Edwardian-era architectural and acoustic wonder tucked away in East Weymouth's Jackson Square. It is also the sanctuary of East Weymouth Congregational Church, United Church of Christ. Right here in Weymouth, it is an acoustical Wonder. Musical performers make all kinds of wonderful comments about how their voice or instruments sound incredible with these acoustics. Our Music Director describes It as “the best acoustics south of Boston’s Jordan Hall.”

MSH concert season runs from October to May and includes a variety of artists performing folk, jazz, blues, classical, gospel and special Christmas/Holiday concerts in December and January. Past performers have included such nationally known acts as Mark Erelli and Jake Armerding, both of whom have performed many times at the storied Passim in Cambridge. Local performers include Jim Melody, composer of “Christmas in Boston,” plus the Joyful Voices of Inspriation gospel choir, which has performed all over the planet; the Sharon Concert Band and our own orchestra-in-residence, the Southeastern Philharmonic Orchestra.
