Sevier-Vuyk’s Sweet Talk focuses on the playful aspect of Valentine’s Day: candy hearts with cheeky sayings that are piled into towers or one by one. Sevier-Vuyk’s pastel paintings bring sweetness, nostalgia, and a hint of irony to one of America’s most over-commercialized holidays. Known for her colorful, realistic acrylic paintings of iconic objects in culture, Sevier-Vuyk’s candy heart paintings reference a cultural tradition of exchanging cards and sweets for the holiday.
British-French artist Rebecca Vincenzi returns to Beacon Gallery for a second solo exhibition, Cafe Chats. Working within the school of Paris and the naïve style, Vincenzi explores everyday life in the City of Lights. She captures pastries, tenderness, and moments of solitude, showing how the nuances of how Paris, known as a capital of romance, is full of life and connection.
The night features live acoustic from local musician Ry McDonald and selected wine tastings by Dylan Allwine of Allwine All The Time.
