“Virtuoso playing, animated and emotional performance and great stage presence… Zahili has the makings of a superstar…” – Tom Ehrlich, Timba.com
Born in Manzanillo, Cuba, Zahili Gonzalez Zamora is a rapidly rising star in Latin jazz. A graduate of Cuba’s National Conservatory of Music in Havana and Berklee College of Music, Zamora has played on some of North America’s most prestigious stages, including the Kennedy Center, and the Monterey and Montreal Jazz festivals, and has performed or collaborated with Ingrid Jensen, Jon Secada, and Paquito D’Rivera among others.
Zamora performs with Chilean bassist Gerson Lazo Quiroga and Japanese percussionist Takafumi Nikaido. The three met as students at Berklee and released their debut CD in late 2018.
Zamora describes the group’s music as “a combination of the new and old musical traditions with a focus on Cuban styles” representing multiculturalism and global unity in divisive times. “In a world that feels like it is becoming narrow, music is inherently expansive,” she said.
Concert tickets are $20 in advance / $25 at the door. Purchase tickets online at www.indianhillmusic.org or call (978) 615-4783.
