The Emotions of Protest: A Virtual Photo Exhibit of By Samuel Williams

Williams, who grew up in Concord, Mass., used a square-format film camera to photograph the community of people protesting systemic racism and the death of George Floyd area throughout 2020 in the Boston area. With this camera, Williams captures a higher level of detail and texture compared with images created with a 35 mm digital camera.

His exhibit explores the passion of those involved in social protest by way of portraits of adults and children, wide crowd shots and details of critical moments in the days and nights of protest.
