"The Elephant Man" by Bernard Pomerance

John Merrick has suffered from rare skin and bone diseases since he was a child. Rejected by society for his grotesque looks and showcased as a carnival freak show, John is taken in by Dr. Frederick Treves, whose care and attention evolve him from an object of pity to a gentleman. This story is based on the true life of Joseph “John” Merrick, and shows how compassion and acceptance can change not only an individual’s life, but also to those around them.

Presented at Hovey Players, “The Elephant Man” is produced by O4FXSAKE Productions and directed by Michelle Aguillon, the cast includes Dustin Teuber as John Merrick, Dominic Carter as Dr. Treves, and Lea Oppedisano as Mrs. Kendal. The ensemble includes Claude Del, John Murtagh, Katharine Braun-Levine, and Steve Bermundo.

“The Elephant Man” has a limited engagement with shows on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, April 18, 19, 20 at 8 pm with a Sunday matinee on April 21 at 3 pm at Hovey Players, located at 9 Spring Street in Waltham.
