Hydrothermal Vent from Oregon State University, Creative Commons license
Journey into the ocean deep at GMGI’s annual free Art Science Lecture with GMGI scientist Dr. Matt Harke and illustrator and author Lindsey Leigh.
Matt Harke recently had the opportunity to explore one of the most extreme environments on our planet, a hydrothermal vent, using genomic technologies and will share the science and the beauty from his explorations of the deep.
Author and Illustrator Lindsey Leigh will describe how her inspiration by the most weird and wonderful aspects of the natural world led to the creation of her new book, The Deep, and how she believes strongly in the power of art to communicate scientific ideas.

LOCATION
PARKING INFO
Early arrival is encouraged for all patrons, as parking can sometimes prove challenging.
With a supportive neighborhood sharing the free on-street parking around the theater, patrons will be able to find safe parking spots within a five minute walk on the fullest of shows. There are three accessible parking spaces and a drop off area directly in front of the theater.
Additional free parking is available in the Rocky Neck Cultural District; simply take the next right turn after passing the theater, and you’ll see the parking lot on your right along with on street parking.
When parking on neighboring streets, be double-sure to not block driveways and make room for easy passage on the sidewalk.
