The beloved family concert coalesces around the infectious and visceral energy of dance with four dances from Copland’s Rodeo, Texu Kim’s Spin-Flip, and Gabriela Ortiz’s Kayumari.

The NEP’s annual Family Concert, Symphonic Dance Party, Dec. 4, 2022, 3pm, at Boston University Tsai Center, presents dances from Copland’s 1942 ballet Rodeo; Spin-Flip (2014) by the Korean American composer Texu Kim, inspired by both black holes and table tennis; Kauyumari (2021) by Gabriela Ortiz, evoking the Blue Deer spirit guide of the Huichol people of Mexico in an evocation of new beginnings; and two concerto movements performed by the 2 winners of the NEP’s Young Artist
