Join Boston Lyric Opera and Castle of Our Skins on Saturday, August 28 at 4 pm for the kickoff performance of BLO’s 2021-22 Season! BLO and COOS partner to bring the music of Zimbabwean composer Tanyaradzwa Tawengwa-Nzou Mambano to BLO’s Street Stage, presented at deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum. Featuring performances by Mambano and artists from BLO and COOS, experience the story and music of the sacred mbira tradition. This performance is free with admission and pre-registration.

Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the performance to allow time to check in.

More about BLO’s Street Stage

With a custom exterior designed and painted by teen artists employed at Artists For Humanity, and mentored by co-founders Jason Talbot and Rob “ProBlak” Gibbs, BLO Street Stage has mobilized to bring live, in-person opera performances – safely – across eastern Massachusetts. Each performance will feature one BLO singer and one BLO pianist presenting a variety of beautiful opera music and will last approximately 20 minutes.

operALIVE brings outdoor performances safely to our audiences around the Greater Boston area. These in-person performances will be guided by recommendations from BLO’s Health Task Force for Opera Artists. Led by MGH-affiliated BLO physician Dr. Susan Bennett, the Task Force includes high-profile medical experts in epidemiology, pulmonology, biology, sports medicine and infectious disease control, as well as BLO singers and musicians.
