Octopus is Thinking About Itself, About Itself
Selvage celebrates the Winter Solstice with sinuous perforated metal constructions while Truong celebrates the illusive Octopus with light, text and camouflage.
This exhibition features sculptures that respond to the Winter Solstice/New Year’s cycle with an acute awareness of our perilous climate crisis. The ancient impetus to light “beseeching fires to drive the dark away” has evolved to excessive fuel-fired KWHs that have driven the dark away. The primal urge to celebrate the sun’s annual renewal is enhanced by our critical need to harness its energy for all of our power.
