Kilimanjaro Documentary Screening, Panel Discussion and Reception

Presented by Kupenda for the Children at Coolidge Corner Theatre, Brookline MA

Mar 22 2020
Kilimanjaro Documentary Screening, Panel Discussion and Reception

On the coast of Kenya, where people impacted by disability are often shunned and viewed as cursed, three determined teenagers set out to challenge their community’s long-held stigma and climb Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro.

In 2015, Kupenda for the Children accompanied 3 Kenyan teens on their climb up Mount Kilimanjaro. Join us to hear the story of those who have overcome immense challenges to prove that disability is not inability.

On March 22, the Reel Abilities Film Festival is hosting a showing of the 1-hour film about this powerful project. See the trailer here.

After, we'll have a panel discussion with Cynthia Bauer and Leonard Mbonani, (co-founders of Kupenda) and the Kenyan youth who hiked Mt.
