Pianist Chi Wei Lo @ NEC's Williams Hall

Pianist and improviser Chi Wei Lo, “Nervy, cerebral, passionate, mysterious and sensual…Flowing, aloft, and at the same time, grounded” (Boston Music Intelligencer), graduated from Juilliard, is a doctoral candidate at NEC, majoring in contemporary piano improvisation. In 2019, he was featured in a NEC video as the representation of virtuosity.

In 2018, Lo was commissioned by the Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation (KRTC) for its 10th anniversary, which led to the album “Twelve Over Twelve”, and the printing of Lo’s limited edition metro-card.

Chi Wei Lo will perform at the Summer FREE Concerts @ NEC on Sunday Aug 14 , 7:30 pm at NEC’s Williams Hall, presenting the following program:

Schumann/Lo: Carnaval, Op. 9, with improvisation
T. Schemmer: Lullaby for Alex
Chen Yi/Lo: Variations on Awariguli, with additional variations
D. B. Roumain/ Lo : Recomposing “Jam!”
Messiaen : Vingt Regards sur l’Enfant-Jésus, XV: Le baiser de l’Enfant-Jésus (The kiss of the Infant Jesus)
