Description:
Whatever type of art you make, sell or collect, high-quality images of your artwork are important for your own record, for your online presence, or to submit to publications or juried shows. This 1-day workshop will help you level-up your artwork photography. You will learn to take well-lit, sharp images with whatever type of camera you own from phone cameras to DSLRs. During class, you will photograph a variety of different objects and experiment with different lighting conditions. You will design and photograph a still life and then move on to photographing your own artwork. Students are encouraged to bring a selection of items to photograph as well as small items for a still life.
Bring any type of camera you are familiar with including phone cameras. If you bring a DSLR or point-and-shoot camera, please be aware that there will be limted time for the instructor to help adjust settings.
Materials:
A $50 materials fee for studio lights, backdrops, and other supplies will be separately invoiced to students.
Softboxes will be available for use during the class if needed.
Also, students should bring to class:
Camera (phone, DSLR, mirrorless, or point-and-shoot)
Battery charger
Materials to create a small still life arrangement
Artwork to photograph
About the instructor:
Nicole Mordecai is a photographer based in Weston, MA and a member of the LexArt Photography Guild. She creates art photography including images of reflections and nature. She often uses special effects to create otherworldly images. In addition to art photography, Nicole works with clients to document community events, create images for their online presence, or capture candid family, pet, and sports photos. She teaches basic photography skills, tabletop studio photography, photo editing, and creative iPhone photography. For more details, visit her website at CreateWithPhotos.com.
