Orchestral Reflections on Politics and Conflict

The Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra (BCSO) presents our Spring 2022 concert Orchestral Reflections on Politics and Conflict. Join us for a glimpse into ways that composers write music that reflects on the politics and conflicts around them. With repertoire including John Adams’ The Chairman Dances, selections from Ludwig van Beethoven’s 3rd Symphony, Rhapsodic Overture by Edmund Jenkins/edited by Tuffus Zimbabwe, Two Interlinked French Melodies from the opera Entente Cordiale by Ethel Smyth, The Overture to Ukrainian composer Mykola Lysenko’s opera Taras Bulba,  as well as music by John Williams reflecting on the struggles between wizards and muggles in the fantastical world of Harry Potter.
