Naumberg Prize winner Lydian String Quartet joins Artistic Director Carol Ou for an exuberant program celebrating the music of Brahms, Fanny Mendelssohn, and Korine Fujiwara.
While Brahms’ sextet has been a staple of the chamber music repertoire, audiences are now becoming more familiar with the works of Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, the beloved sister of Felix Mendelssohn. Her string quartet in Eb is a riveting work that is no less a masterpiece than Felix’s music. Opening this program will be a fun and bluesy premiere of the cello version of “Big Bad Dog” by Korine Fujiwara.
