As a composer, Mike has recently been recognized by Jâca as one of their 2021 Emerging Composers for his piece, “The Wanderer,” and was winner of the 2019 Ithaca College Jazz Ensemble Composition Contest for his piece, “That Familiar Connection.” Mike has also received a Herb Alpert Foundation Young Jazz Composer award from ASCAP for his composition, “Time to Go,” and is a commissioned composer of jazz, chamber, and symphonic music.
