Mangia al Museo 2020

“The Italian phrase mangia means ‘Eat’ but it carries the richer cultural meaning to eat with great enjoyment,” says Benton Jones, CCMoA Director of Art. “What’s more enjoyable than sitting down in the warmth of community and eating delicious pasta from artistic bowls handmade by our wonderful artists and students with love?”

Each guest will choose from decorated bowls of different colors and sizes that were created by the museum’s Ceramics Instructor Nat Doane and volunteer pottery students. The students have been hard at work throwing, trimming, and glazing these pasta bowls. Every guest will take their chosen bowl home as a remembrance of this shared event. In the interest of reducing the amount of waste we produce, we are encouraging attendees to bring their own utensils. Please bring your own fork if possible.

A choice of either ziti or spiralized vegetables will be offered.  Five popular restaurants will compete for “Best Meat Sauce” and “Best Veggie Sauce.” The two winning restaurants will receive a beautiful handmade ceramic platter created by Nat Doane. Some of the restaurants who will be competing are Encore, Underground Bakery, and Treats/Dennis Inn. Other restaurants, vendors, and sellers are to be announced, so stay tuned!

Guests will also have a chance to win a special pasta bowl handmade by the President of the CCMoA Board of Trustees, Kathleen Fowler and Nathaniel Doane, the Ceramics Instructor at the museum.

Pottery student and event organizer, Elizabeth Sweeney, said, “After the success of our first Mangia events, we are thrilled to again offer this fun, family friendly, and unique event.”
