Live Arts Arlington: Foster Powell

Live Arts Arlington (LAA) returns to the newly renovated Broadway Plaza in Arlington Center for a new season of free outdoors arts experiences, including a concert by Vermont musician and songwriter Foster Powell!

Foster Powell was born in Anacortes, WA and raised in Boston. His tightly arranged, wryly observed pop songs combine Nilsson-esque singer/songwriter classicism with spirited investments in lyrical communication. Powell’s band is made up of Amayi Anders and Daniel O’Connor (and sometimes others); the three friends met as students at Bennington College in Vermont and bonded over a shared obsession with 60s-era songwriting as well as more recent “unpopular pop” troubadours like Aimee Mann and Elliott Smith.  Learn more about Powell and enjoy some of his videos here.

Get ready for another lively, fantastic summer season of outdoor performances in Arlington! For summer 2022, the Arlington Commission for Arts & Culture returns with Live Arts Arlington, a series of free, family-friendly live performances and interactive arts experiences to liven up summer Fridays. At 6pm each Friday evening, look for live music, performance and visual arts demonstrations in a variety of genres and disciplines staged on Broadway Plaza at Mass Avenue, in the heart of the Arlington Cultural District. Organized in partnership with artists, the series is designed to encourage public performance and creation in the Town, inviting artists to step out and share their expertise on sidewalks, parks, and plazas where people gather and enjoy outdoor entertainment. Stay tuned to Arts Arlington via our newsletters and social media for newly announced artists throughout the summer!
