Joos Twins in Concert at Methuen Memorial Music Hall

Shaylen Joos (harp) and Marshall Joos (organ), fraternal twins, are high school seniors from Somersworth, NH. Both recently performed on the NPR program “From the Top”: Shaylen in Program 394, and Marshall in Program 396.
Shaylen is a harp student of Erica Driscoll and a member of the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. She has also appeared with the Nashua Chamber Orchestra. In 2019, she attended the Summerfest Harp Colony at the Curtis Institute of Music and placed second in the Intermediate II Division at the American Harp Society National Competition. Apart from music, she enjoys traveling, reading, and writing.
Marshall began organ studies at the age of ten with Lorrie Dodson and was a scholarship recipient from the Young Organist Collaborative of Portsmouth. In 2018, he became a student of Christian Lane (the Boston Organ Studio).  Marshall has appeared in concert at Methuen,
Portland, ME and Boston. In 2019, he was winner of the American Guild of Organists’ Boston Regional Competition for Young Organists and the Cameron Johnson Scholarship Competition (Storrs, CT) and placed 2nd at the AGO Northeast Regional Convention (Buffalo, NY). As a pianist, Marshall has been a finalist in the concerto competitions for both the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra and the Lakes Region Symphony Orchestra. He regularly plays both piano and organ at his church, and in his free time he enjoys writing and arranging sacred music, spending time with his family, and playing with his dog, Sandy.
