Joe Hunt Quartet
Modern jazz played by Mark Pinto-alto sax, John Lockwood-bass, Yuka Hamano Hunt-piano, Joe Hunt- drums. Repertoire ranges from Thelonious Monk to Bert Bacharach. This month we plan a tribute to the late, great Ahmad Jamal.
The Joe Hunt quartet is a top local jazz group which has been playing at The Lilypad for the past several years: Alto saxophonist Mark Pinto played with the Buddy Rich band for years, John Lockwood has been with Joe Henderson, James Williams, Lee Konitz, and many others. Joe Hunt has recorded and toured with Bill Evans, Stan Getz and many others. Yuka Hamano is a bright new jazz face who adds her voice, piano, and composition skills to the group.
