Jamaica Plain Porchfest

Jamaica Plain Porchfest 2021 is on! We are excited to announce that this year we are doing Porchfest differently. The COVID-19 pandemic was devastating for live performance, but has allowed us to reimagine Porchfest through the lens of community and accessibility. That being said, we are pleased to announce Jamaica Plain Porchfest: A 2-day festival! Yes, that’s right, a 2-day festival.

What does this mean for you? You get 2 days of live community arts in Jamaica Plain on August 21 and 22 with both virtual and in person options on both days. Our priority this year is to ensure each and every community member and performer is safe so in light of COVID-19 these are the steps we’ve taken in an abundance of caution to keep you safe:

Porchfest will occur both in person and online in real time for select stages.
The festival will occur over two days to keep live audience numbers manageable.
We have capped the number of porches to a maximum of 18 per day.
An abundance of Sanitizing Stations will be available throughout the neighborhood.

Our goal is to make sure Porchfest stays fun, safe and accessible for both our stay-at-home community and the adventurous festival goer. 

BIPOC Spotlight:
If the past year has taught us anything, it’s that it’s time to step into the future; and the future of JP Porchfest is exciting.

Some things haven’t changed. This year’s festival will still be a celebration of the cultural and artistic diversity of JP, and still honors the community spirit that drives folx to open up their homes to strangers.

However, when we got the opportunity to produce our favorite event, we thought long and hard about how we’d guide the festival into its next phase. Here’s where we landed:

Spotlight and center BIPOC artists and creatives.
Pay performers.

Porchfest is still open to anyone in terms of audience, performer or porch host but we wanted to make sure that we spotlighted artists who rarely have access to these opportunities.
