Intro to Calligraphy and Beyond: Foundational Hand (Cancelled)

Calligraphy is a visual art related to writing, tracing back to the Roman Empire. It is both an artistic expression and an exercise in patience. This course will focus on calligraphy using a broad-nibbed fountain pen. We will start by learning strokes and encouraging muscle memory to form beautiful lettering. We will learn the Foundational (Bookhand) hand and then explore the myriad ways to use it creatively. This hand is an easily readable, versatile and elegant font. Course will include home practice and a final project. A supply list will be emailed upon registration.

Dani Larosee

Instructor Dani Larosee graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design with degrees in both photography and art education. Her passion for the arts has led her to explore various media including sculpture, pottery, woodworking, knitting, and jewelry-making. Danielle has taught children and seniors in classroom settings and after a year-long internship at Disney World, she brought the lessons and principles she learned there back to Boston to guide her work with her students.
