Tied Together is a collaboration between Hub New Music and Silkroad’s Kojiro Umezaki (shakuhachi). The program features five new works for Hub and shakuhachi by composers of the Asia/America New Music Institute that create dialogues between Eastern and Western musical traditions. The Showdown puts the best Fusion and Bollywood/Hindi-Film dance teams up against one another, giving the judges the unenviable task of deciding who is the best of the best. Fusion dance combines different dance styles, set to Indian music, creating its own distinct form of dance, while the Bollywood and Hindi-Film dance style is inspired by the musical numbers seen in Indian films and features expression, themes, and storylines.
