Music Director, Steven Lipsitt, who is widely recognized for his ability to combine precision and passion, intelligence, and invigoration, will conduct the Bach, Beethoven, &Brahms Society Orchestra whose musicians are some of Boston area’s finest and most experienced freelance instrumentalists. A core group of the musicians has been playing together for many years, which gives the orchestra a deep rapport and an ability to focus on the substance of making music from the very beginning of the rehearsal process.
Mark Hagerty is an award-winning, highly individualistic American composer who pursued classical training as an instrumentalist, singer, and composer, and then determined his own path, outside of any tradition or institution. He has been developing two compositional practices in parallel—one that extends historic, particularly pre-classical forms, and a second that sets all traditions aside in favor of forays into more extreme forms and modes of expression. In all cases, he strives for a deep connection with performers and listeners, and his music has found enthusiastic audiences internationally and across the United States.
Tracy Richardson, harpsichord, is co-artistic director and executive director of Mélomanie. In addition to solo recitals and concerto performances with numerous orchestras, she has worked with contemporary composers from around the world. Her 15-year collaboration with the late Brazilian composer Sergio Roberto de Oliveira resulted in an extensive exchange of music between the US and Brazil, many new works, and Mélomanie’s concert in Rio de Janeiro. In her 30-year collaboration with composer Mark Hagerty, he composed three Clavier Books for her, published by Subito (with Tracy as editor) and recorded on the Meyer Media label in Mark’s double CD Soliloquy (2011).
