Hula, long a vital aspect of Hawaiian culture is a story telling dance form that portrays Hawaiian myths, the history of the Hawaiian culture and the beauty of nature.
This class will take students through the basic steps and terminology of hula. We will utilize the hula vocabulary in learning pre-European contact hula known as kahiko and the modern style hula known as 'auana.
Please note: this is not a "drop in" class.
Class Attire: Pa'u (Hawaiian skirt-available on line), pareo(sarong) (3-4 yds cotton fabric).
Other acceptable attire: capris, shorts, knee length skirt, leggings
NO baggy outfits, ankle length skirts, or long pants.
