Go Out Doors - Arlington

“Go Out Doors-Arlington” is part of an expansive and evolving regional public art campaign that promotes healthy outdoors activity, environmental appreciation, and inter-town regional tourism throughout Greater Boston, Battle Road and Metrowest.

Installations include upcycled, artist-decorated doors situated by cultural institutions, parks and community spaces, contributed by noted area artists including: Jacky Pullman at Robbins Library; Adria Arch at Old Schwamb Mill; Laurie Bogdan at the Visitor Center at Uncle Sam Plaza; Janice Hayes-Cha at Mystic River Parkway; Jill Strait at Broadway Plaza; Jason Rudokas and Laurie Bogdan representing ArtLinks Arlington on the Minuteman Bikeway. Additional doors are installed on the Bikeway in Lexington and across the Mystic in Medford‘s Duggan Park.

The installation builds on “Go Out Doors,” The Umbrella Arts Center’s 2020 West Concord project inspired by the En Plein Air exhibition on NYC’s High Line, with additional “Go Out Doors – Neighbors” commissions extended last fall to Concord Center, Arlington and Lexington — symbolically connecting three towns, three bikeways, three cultural districts, and three visitor centers. In 2021, art doors projects have continued to spread in Carlisle, Westford, Concord, Arlington, Lexington, Medford, Groton, Minute Man National Historical Park, and eight villages in Newton including Auburndale; Newton Centre; Newton Highlands, Newton Upper Falls, Newtonville, Nonantum, Waban and West Newton.
