In honor of Black History Month, LexArt, LexSeeHer, and Lexington Historical Society are collaborating on Free and Not a Slave: The Legacy of Margaret Tulip—an art exhibit that pays tribute to an important part of Lexington (and U.S.) history.
The Free and Not a Slave: The Legacy of Margaret Tulip exhibit considers Margaret and her legacy through the lens of art and history. Among the works in the exhibit are A Dress for Margaret, an artist rendering of what Margaret might have looked like, a family tree showing research in progress about Margaret’s Black and Indigenous heritages and descendants, and works on loan from Lexington Historical Society.
