First Friday ~ June 4th :"The Cycle of the Bicycle" Art Exhibit

Sariano’s bicycle pieces are a feast for the eyes.  Two of them, painted in 1989 are oils on canvas. Sariano says these early bicycle paintings were mostly about interacting geometric shapes.  

The one called “Four Corners Of a Wheel” is a hot rainbow of yellow, red and purple spokes separated by cool light blue and dark green handlebars and fenders. 

The other of the two earlier works “Sprocket” features curved shapes complemented by straight arms and criss-crossed spokes. 

Several larger bicycles, painted in gouache on paper are from 2001 and later.  These, too, are interwoven geometric shapes involving bicycle parts but these are more complex and abstract.
