February Vacation Week Fiber Arts Classes

At The Umbrella, we believe that everyone is an artist. We design our February Vacation Week programs with variety in mind to give students the opportunity to discover, explore, and experiment in the arts.

This year, with restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have refined our approach to deliver the best possible online arts education and at-home creative experiences that you have come to expect from The Umbrella. Teddy Bear Sewing Project

Sew your own huggable bear! You’ll learn how to construct and sew the bear, and design it yourself by choosing different felt muzzles, noses, belly patches, and more. You’ll learn basic hand stitching and some embroidery stitches, too. Hand sewing required. Students must know how to thread a needle for hand sewing.

Materials: Fabric, felt, stuffing, and safety eyes will be mailed to students.

Note: Fabric and felt provided might differ from what is shown!

Required at home: Scissors that can cut fabric, 2 sewing needles and thread, straight pins.

Age range: 10-14
Duration: 1 Day

Sew a Fleece Headband with Flower

Have some fleece-y fun when you create your own one-of-a-kind fleece headband! Hand sewing required. Students must know how to thread a needle for hand sewing.

Materials: The instructor will mail patterns and fabric for both the headband and flower.

Note: Fabric and felt provided might differ from what is shown!

At home you will need: Needle and thread, scissors that can cut fabric, straight pins, 1 safety pin.
