“La Resurrezione: Faith in Marys” tune in to a Pre-Concert Conversation with Artistic Director, Ryan Turner, Director, Nathan Troup and Emmanuel Church Rector, The Rev. Pamela L. Werntz
Handel's La Resurrezione offers a liturgical drama about what was happening behind the scenes of Gospel stories of the death and resurrection of Jesus. Carlo Capece's libretto imagines the stories of three Marys: Mary the mother of Jesus, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene, also known as "The Apostle to the Apostles." Their faithfulness to Jesus is met with God's faith in them to spread the good news that death has been vanquished, that Jesus lives.
