Dancing at Lughnasa

Meet the Mundy family: five unmarried Irish sisters, their brother: a missionary priest who has returned home, and the memories of a long-ago summer when young Michael, son of one of the sisters, remembers meeting his father for the first time. Set in 1936, the sisters come alive with the arrival of their first radio, and the home is filled with music and dancing. This play is very evocative of the Irish countryside, family life among five strong Irish Catholic women who are not afraid to speak up and confront each other, and yet always have each other’s backs in a testimony to the love of family.
