The Harvard Art Museums are temporarily closed to the public. Over the next few weeks, we will continue to monitor the evolving coronavirus outbreak, and appreciate your understanding at this time.

Countering the assumption that African arts and societies are largely unchanging and bound to traditions and customs, the remarkable diversity of objects and styles on display here tells a different story.
