BCMS performs Beethoven’s celebrated Ghost Piano Trio, Richard Strauss’s youthful Piano Quartet, and a new quartet for oboe and strings by Boston composer Lavell Blackwell
One of the most popular pieces in the genre, Beethoven’s Ghost Piano Trio derives its nickname from the melancholy middle movement that brought to mind the apparition in Hamlet. The two exuberant outer movements feature concise development of melodic material and shimmering passagework in the piano.
