Ava Federov - Let Me Hold You As You Disappear - Closing Party+Performance/Installation Reveal

This new, temporary site-specific project envisions sandbags as bodies, evoking the stark reality of flooding, erosion, and rising oceans due to the climate crisis. Earth from flood sites and areas threatened by flooding within the greater Boston region created dye for the sandbags—representing various human skin tones and emphasizing the connection between body and land.

The sand/body bags stacking formation will be installed into Laconia Gallery as part of the closing weekend of “Let me hold you as you disappear.” Beginning at 5pm, the endurance performance of stacking the sand/body bags will be open to the public.

This endurance performance and art installation intends to foster awareness of the fundamental precariousness of our cities in the face of climate chaos. It intends to inspire conversations around mitigation and adaptation— ultimately avoiding the outcome that the sandbag/body bag project implies.
