Since its inception in 2014, Mount Auburn’s Artist-in-Residence program has brought more than 20 artists to the Cemetery across various disciplines and media. For the first time in the program’s history, two artists who met as a result of their individual residencies are coming together to present a new collaborative work.
From July 28-30, musician Ira Klein and choreographer Liz Walker will premiere At the Seam of Life and Death, an interdisciplinary show inspired by the Cemetery as a place of transition and remembrance.
As part of their process, Ira and Liz explored music as movement and dance as sound. Ira’s original compositions are inspired by a variety of folkloric music traditions, as well as by the beauty of the natural world. Liz’s choreography explores dance-making that leaves a physical trace and encourages connection to the materiality of the earth. Please join us for what promises to be an unforgettable immersive art experience in Hazel Dell.
Check-in for the event will be at the top of the ramp, just outside of Hazel Dell.
