The Spectrum Singers present a unique program of music written by women and people of color, along with other works emblematic of the broad diversity of American poetry and composition.
This concert provides an opportunity to hear wonderful works from American composers not often heard, most based on texts by American poets. Both the composers and the poets include women and people of color. The concert features works by Carol Barnett, William Bolcom, Aaron Copland, Scott Joplin, Rosephanye Powell, Florence Price, Ned Rorem, William Schuman, Debra Scroggins, and Randall Thompson. The performance of William Bolcom’s The Mask will feature guest pianist Karen Harvey.
