ACT presents 'Seussical'

Arlington Children’s Theatre’s Winter Musical is back and this year we are bringing the fun and zany world of ‘Seussical’ to our stage. Based on the beloved works of Dr. Seuss and brings to life bold characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination – Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.

The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.

Next up in ACT’s 2019-2020 season, which explores the themes of community and identity, is Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, The Wizard of Oz and a summer lineup featuring ‘Frozen Jr’ and ‘Newsies’. Additionally, ACT has workshops, summer day and February/ April school vacation day programs. 

Performances will be on March 11th- March 14th at 7p and March 14th at 10a and 2p. Directed by Bradford Robinson with music direction by James Ham and choreography by Paige Winn and is Stage Managed by Kaylah Dixon. All performances will be at the Lexington Christian Academy. Tickets are general admission and are $20. Tickets will be available at the door and are available online through ACT’s website.
