The Global Community Engagement Program of Brandeis University’s Samuels Center for Civic Engagement and Community Partnerships presents the world premiere performance of A Deepest Blue, a dance piece by the classical Khmer (Cambodian) dancer Prumsodun Ok (Prum). Prum is the celebrated artistic director of Cambodia’s first and only all-male all-gay classical dance company. This new piece, a solo, accompanied by four highly accomplished musicians from Japan, explores how we might emerge from the depths of despair — at the state of the world, including environmental devastation — by looking beyond ourselves for inspiration. This performance, free and open to the public, is presented as part of the Global Community Engagement Program’s “Focus on Cambodia,” recognizing that 2024 marks the 45th anniversary of the end of the Cambodian genocide. The Deepest Blue, 7:00 pm, at the Laurie Theater in the Spingold Theater Building. Parking is available behind the building. Tickets are free and must be reserved in advance:
