birthplace of Uncle Sam, the site of the most vicious fighting on the first day of the Revolutionary War, the location of the first public children’s library in America, and now as the home to the Arlington International Film Festival.
Arlington was originally settled in 1635 as the village Menotomy and later came to be known as West Cambridge. Following the Civil War, citizens changed the town’s name to Arlington to honor those buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
AIFF MISSION: To foster appreciation for different cultures by exploring the lives of people around the globe through independent film — to nurture the next generation of filmmakers.
