This exhibit consists of mixed media works that were inspired by the love letters that Judith’s father wrote to her mother during WWII when he served as a commander of a tank destroyer platoon through horrific battles in Italy, France, and Germany.
This series of work aims to highlight the strength and resilience of her parents’ loving relationship as well as the painful disruption of family life during the war. Incorporated into her collages are also snippets of documents, letters, and photographs from her husband’s parents and grandparents as they struggled to survive in Germany and Hungary. Although they tragically lost many family members and their homes in the Holocaust, these individuals survived due to their immense courage, resourcefulness, and good luck. Judith hope that her work will remind us that it is so important to remember the past and to learn from it.
