Deeply influenced by traditional Creole, Cajun, and Haitian music as well as American jazz and folk, Leyla McCalla rose to fame as a cellist with the Carolina Chocolate Drops before leaving in 2013 to pursue a solo career. Her music vibrates with three centuries of history yet feels strikingly fresh as she sings in French, Haitian Creole, and English and plays cello, tenor banjo, and guitar. Fusion dance combines different dance styles, set to Indian music, creating its own distinct form of dance, while the Bollywood and Hindi-Film dance style is inspired by the musical numbers seen in Indian films and features expression, themes, and storylines.
