About the Jokhang Temple The Jokhang Temple is a Tibetan Buddhist center in Arlington, MA that is dedicated to the practice and study of the Buddha’s teachings and the preservation of Tibetan culture in the Boston area. Under the spiritual direction of Venerable Lama Konchok Sonam, the Jokhang Temple is a branch of Tibet’s famous Katsel Monastery and is a Tibetan Buddhist pilgrimage site featuring an "emanation replica" of the most revered Jowo Rinpoche statue which resides in Tibet’s capital, Lhasa. The eight-foot-tall U.S. Jowo Rinpoche statue is the main feature of this pilgrimage site. The Jokhang Temple hosts a variety of great spiritual masters throughout the year, making their teachings available to the greater Boston community. The Jokhang Temple actively serves the community at large and operates under the auspices of the Drikung Meditation Center, a 501(c)(3) educational organization.
