Newton Baroque is a period instrument ensemble dedicated to innovative performances of Baroque Repertoire. The musicians of Newton Baroque enjoy taking musical risks together and imbuing their performances with a spirit of improvisatory spontaneity. They are committed to calling attention to fine music that is not in the Baroque “Canon”. It has been said of the group, “They play music that is either rarely heard or well known music as it has never been heard before.” They perform regularly at Second Church in Newton, Massachusetts, for the concert series of the Society of Historically Informed Performances and live on WGBH Boston Public Radio. Their Performances of Concerti by Johann Pisendel was awarded the Boston Globe “Pick of the Week”.
