The Katie Brown Educational program is a violence prevention program, wherein our trained educators teach our original curricula primarily to elementary, middle and high school students. Our curriculum is designed to give students the information and skills they need to prevent violence from becoming a factor in their relationships. Our educators teach the issues related to relationship violence and peer violence. Students are introduced to the material through interactive discussions and hands-on activities. The first session for all grade levels addresses the different types of violence in relationships, as well as the role of power and control as a factor in unhealthy relationships. Subsequent sessions for each grade address the topics and activities specific to that grade, though all reinforce the contiguous theme of accountability, respect, and rights in relationships. To date, the KBEP has educated over 43,000 youth and adults in schools, group homes, camps, and correctional facilities, in over twenty communities throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
